Li Zhaoxing Meets with Romanian Foreign Minister

On August 20, 2003, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with his Romanian counterpart Mircea Geoana, who is accompanying Romanian president Ion Iliescu on his state visit to China. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral ties and international issues of common concern. They noted with satisfaction that, promoted by the leaders of the two countries, China and Romania have seen a smooth development of bilateral ties, together with fruitful cooperation. They agreed the friendly bilateral relations have entered a new stage, and the two countries support each other on issues of common concern. Both sides noted that the foreign ministries of the two countries have maintained a good cooperative relationship, and established a communication and consultation mechanism. They vowed that both sides would faithfully implement agreements and consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, promote all-round bilateral cooperation in various fields, and consolidate coordination in multilateral and international organizations.
